Lake View Hosts 9th Annual Sip and Sample

Saturday, June 3, 2017

The Lake View Community Club welcomes summer by hosting the 9thth Annual Sip and Sample on Saturday, June 3 from 2 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Main Street in Lake View, Iowa. The admission fee is $10 which includes a commemorative wine glass.  Pre-sale wine glasses are available at Day Dreamers, Farmers State Bank, Iowa State Bank and the Wooden Oar.

Bigger and better each year, the 2017 Sip and Sample has nearly 50 vendors offering everything from beverages and food, to personal items such as Stella and Dot jewelry, Thirty-One Bags and LuLaRoe clothing.  A sampling of the vendors attending include:  Cat Tale Country Winery, Tassel Ridge Winery, Iowa Legendary Rye, West O Beer, Stone Cliff Winery, Inspiration Winery, Soldier Creek Winery, Steeped Tea, Denise’s Shyt Spices & Lights in a Bottle, Honey Hill Creations, Mary & Martha, Carroll Design & Salvage, Pink Zebra, and Jamberry & Acti-Labs.  The Farmers Market will also be open, and live music will be available to enhance the ambiance.

Following Sip and Sample, the popular Stone Pier Summer Concert Series will return to the West Stone Pier in Town Bay for its seventh season beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at dusk.  On the shore of beautiful Black Hawk Lake, the concert series entertains both boaters on the lake and spectators on land.

The 2017 concert series kicks off with opener Josh Lawler, a Glidden, Iowa native who is no stranger to the Stone Pier Concert Series having previously played with band, The Young Funk. Headlining the event will be Ras Badjao & The Tarakis. Calling Des Moines, Iowa home, this band is a living testament to the international influence of Roots Reggae music.  Badjao hails from the Province of Kalinga of the Philippines, and prior to moving to the United States had the privilege of opening for Ziggy Marley and headline smaller festivals with his band, Badjao Roots. The Tarakis is a collective of musicians who travel with Ras Badjao to support reggae music in Iowa. They feature artists from the Philippines, Puerto Rico and Chile, as well as Lake View native, Anne (Wetzstein) Stein.

The audience is encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.  Food and merchandise will be available for sale with all proceeds supporting the Concert Series. There is no admission charge or ticket required to attend the shows thanks to the support of the Series’ many generous sponsors including Boulders Inn & Suites, Iowa State Bank, St. Anthony Regional Hospital, MoveIt.com, and Stewart Memorial Community Hospital/McCrary Rost Clinic/Community Pharmacy.
